A month before my 70th birthday, I tested positive for HIV. The bottom dropped out of my world. I learned this terrible news from my husband after I woke up from six days in a medically induced coma. I’d nearly died. I couldn’t believe it. I’d never done anything that would have exposed me to HIV/AIDS. I’d been married to my late husband for nearly twenty-five years and had never strayed.
A Rough Season is my memoir. It deals with my struggle to survive and recover, as well my difficulty facing the fact that the HIV undoubtedly came from my late husband.
